Stephan Jaklitsch earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his Master of Architecture from Princeton University. While at Georgia Tech, he spent one year studying in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris-Tolbiac. After completing his education, he trained with Michael Graves, RTKL, Steven Harris and B Five Studio, where he designed and managed a wide range of jobs including houses, retail projects, and offices.
In 1998, he established Stephan Jaklitsch Architects, PC. His young firm already has an exceptional portfolio with numerous completed projects all over the world, including Asia, Europe and across North America. His firm's residential and commercial projects have been widely published and exhibited and Stephan is a sought after speaker who lectures often on his work. Stephan Jaklitsch Architects PC was a finalist in 2003 in the prestigious Chicago Prize Competition, an international design competition focusing on Chicago's Central Area Plan. The firm's design for The Interchange, a transportation hub and urban connector on a site west of the Chicago Loop, was selected from a pool of hundreds because of its understanding of the complex and specific urban condition of this site on the edge of this dense downtown area. In addition to running his firm, Stephan Jaklitsch is an active member of many professional organizations and architectural groups. Currently, he is in charge of the new Undercurrents series at the Architectural League of New York, whose mission is to help attract a new generation of architects and designers to participate in the League's activities. Stephan was an early supporter of the New York Highline project, whose mission to preserve the elevated train tracks and reuse them as an urban amenity is now being realized. |
