PRIVATE RESIDENCE NEW YORK This private residence is housed in a 4-story townhouse off lower Fifth Avenue that features an unusual trapezoidal floor plan and small floor plates. The residence has an unusual configuration, with the living room on the ground floor and the dining room and existing kitchen on the first floor. The goal of this project was to remove the small existing kitchen from the first floor of the residence and create an efficient, spacious, and beautiful kitchen in what used to be a rather dark and cramped basement. A new, open staircase, made of steel and antique wood, maximizes the feeling of openness and creates a sense of flow from the ground level to the basement. The zinc hood/backsplash was custom designed with a stepped top to fit snugly underneath the stair. |
