The client's previous house, perched on a hilltop in a heavily wooded 60 acre site, was destroyed by fire. Only the basement foundation survived intact as a last remaining artifact. Rather than choosing a new site, the client sought to reincorporate the old foundation and create a more sensitive integration of the new house into the landscape.
