PRIVATE RESIDENCE PROVINCETOWN The historic elevation is a traditional white clapboard beach house with small punched windows. In the back, two main wings hold the primary elements of the house - a living room volume and a bedroom volume on the ocean side. Cedar with mahogany trim and floor-to-ceiling glass are the primary materials on this side of the house and permit maximum views. On the interior, this dichotomy between old and new, the historic scale and the contemporary, is played up in much the same way as the exterior. Areas of the house close to the street side employ historic detailing and use smaller-scale, older furnishings, while those closer to the ocean are larger in scale and more contemporary. |
