The design mandate for this store was to create a modern but warm space, not altogether different from the loft aesthetic of the existing store in downtown Manhattan, which serves as a prototype for all future Marc Jacobs stores. The client invoked the words "living room" frequently in describing the type of space he desired. Discretion, understatement and comfort were also important to achieve a space where customers would feel comfortable and relaxed.
