This new 3,000-square-foot loft, in New York City's Gramercy Park area, for the creative director of a fashion magazine, required a complete programmatic rethinking. What originally had only a single bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, had to be remade to include two bedrooms, two baths, a living area, kitchen, library/guest room, and dressing room.

The first design move was to divide the space by its program elements, separating the public from the private. All of the rooms that didn't need natural light were located along the back wall of the loft, while the others were placed along the south side near the windows.
