The library is one of the central elements of the apartment and acts as a bridge between the public and the private. It is a flexible space that acts as a home office and library during the day; its sliding glass and steel doors can be closed to make the space useable as a guest room. The daybed and custom walnut millwork were designed with this mix of uses in mind.

The loft's mechanical equipment was pushed into the spaces over the library, which gives this space its intimate lower ceiling and allowing the remainder of the loft to have full height ceilings.

The stark industrial architecture of the loft contrasts beautifully with rich finishes we added - custom walnut woodwork, the Balthaup kitchen, and highly detailed doors - to create a comfortable contemporary space.
